A group of twenty-somethings are enjoying their stay at a lakeside cabin when a series of frightening and bizarre events derail their weekend.

Through the darkness we see a woman emerge, silent and mysterious. She approaches and whispers something into his ear. When she beckons, he has no choice but to follow.When his friends arrive, its obvious...something in him has changed. What did the woman tell him? Why does he seem so distant? Where did she take him? A completely Albertan, truly independent film shot on the REDONE camera over 17 days in the summer of 2009. Synopsis The Corrupted (2010)

A young man, Jeremy is sitting on a beach strumming his guitar slowly. He is an recovering junkie and is enjoying some time off at a lakeside cabin. After playing mournful music on his acoustic guitar for a few minutes a strange woman approaches him, walking slowly down the beach. She whispers in his ear that she 'wants to show him something'. A week later a group of four young adults head out to the same lake to enjoy a long weekend of fun at the lake-side cabin. Along for the trip is Trent, a bartender, his younger sister Samantha, a young aimless woman. Also Kizzy, Sam's zany and crazy friend, and Fadi, a medical student and Trent's good buddy are along for the ride. Jeremy, already at the cabin for a week, is acting strange from the moment the other group arrives. On the day of the arrival, the three men sit out on the beach, smoking a joint when they meet neighbors from a nearby camper-trailer. Trix ie and Angie are young, attractive women who are looking for marijuana. After a comical conversation, the girls decide to exchange their company for some marijuana. That night, all seven of the characters, plus Angie's brother Pete party at the cabin, drinking themselves nearly into a stupor. Near the end of the night, Angie, Trixie, and Pete return to their camper after exchanging cheerful goodbyes. It seems to be a regular drunken night of cabin partying except for at the end of the night, when Sam, Trent, Fadi, and Kizzy discover Jeremy wading into the middle of the lake in the pitch of night. The next morning, DJ Niterider and his girlfriend Lily arrive. Unfortunately for Fadi, he had invited Lily out to the cabin with the hopes of hooking up with her. Unfortunately he didn't realize she already had a boyfriend. DJ Niterider turns out to be somewhat of an abrasive presence and tension builds between him and Fadi quickly. Meanwhile Jeremy has disappeared and is nowhere to be found. During that afternoon of the second day, Lily's leg gets covered in a strange rash she contracts from contact with something in the lake. They decide it's best they go take her to a doctor. Unfortunately, two of the three vehicles have been sabotaged and the only remaining vehicle is Jeremy's, for which they have no keys, and Jeremy is still nowhere to be found. The cabin group splits into two, Trent and Kizzy go look for Jeremy (and his car keys), and Fadi, DJ, and Sam head to the highway to try and flag someone down. Lily is left in the cabin; she assures everyone she'll be fine. Fadi's group on their path to the highway stumbles upon a campsite with food that his charred over a still burning campfire. They discover the body of a man tied to a tree, strange tentacles dangling out of his mouth. They also discover a man seemingly dead in the cab of a truck, keys still clutched in his right hand. An argument ensues about who will gather the keys when Sam decides to show the men up and courageously reaches across the sprawled figure and snatches the keys from his lifeless hand. She turns to the men to mock their fears when the formerly limp figure comes to life with a roar and attempts to smother Sam. Acting quickly, DJ and Fadi wrestle her away from the revived hunter. Fadi grabs a rifle off a nearby picnic table and fires a shot into the chest of the pursuing savage. Fadi, Sam, and DJ return to the cabin, and find Lily is gone, and no one is around. Worried, they decide to go searching for their remaining friends and family after gathering what weapons they can from the cabin. Meanwhile Kizzy and Trent have tired of the search, and Kizzy lures Trent back to the cabin with promises of sex. They begin making out back at the cabin when the strange woman who was in the opening scene attacks Kizzy. Trent, attempting to rescue her, is attacked by Jeremy. Both are subdued and dragged off. When Trent and Ki zzy wake, it is fully dark out, and Jeremy has them bound and gagged. He begins a long tirade: outlining the futility of the human existence. He indicates disgust at the material addictions of the society. He also tells Trent that he found it difficult to act 'merely human' again - and continues his diatribe to talk about some radical change that has come over him - some strange physical transformation that he will soon bequeath to both. Meanwhile Fadi's group is searching through the forest for some sign of their friend. They are ambushed by a terrifying figure, his mouth churning with tentacles. After a vicious fight, Sam manages to stab the possessed man in the heart, ending the threat. After a fierce argument, DJ storms off, exclaiming that 'no girl was worth this' - the risk to his life was great enough that he decides to take off. Back with Trent and Kizzy, the strange woman shows up, and after tearing off Kizzy's gag, a swarm of tentacles emerge from her mouth to descend towards Kizzy's screaming mouth. After a few moments, Kizzy is stunned and dragged away by the strange woman. Fadi and Sam come close enough to Kizzy and Trent's capture spot to hear noise, and upon investigation find Jeremy making up an obscure story about 'an old man trying to tie them up'. Fadi is suspicious (they can't see the bound Trent from their vantage), and when he expresses his suspicions, Jeremy engages in combat with Fadi. Fadi gains the upper hand with the hunters rifle and forces Jeremy to give up his car keys. Immediately after they recover the keys, Sam and Fadi are attacked by the strange woman. After a brief scuffle, they manage to beat her off, and rescue Trent. Trent decides they should all head to the beach, the direction he saw Kizzy being dragged. DJ meanwhile has reached the cabin and starts stuffing a duffel bag full of clothing. He is assaulted by a small girl and is corrupted ala Kizzy. Tr ent, Fadi, and Sam reach the beach but are separated when Fadi foolishly goes to investigate a voice he hears in the woods. Fadi finds Lily in the middle of the forest, calling out to him. She talks about her 'wanting him to come with her', but Fadi is understandably suspicious based on what has transpired. On the beach, Trent and Sam confront a changed Kizzy. After exchanging dialogue - Kizzy speaks in tones similar to Lily and Jeremy - Kizzy rushes Trent. Trent fends her off with an axe and in a brutal mind-snapping display, hacks her apart. Meanwhile Lily senses Fadi's reluctance to trust her, and she rushes Fadi, forcing him to shoot her. He stumbles back to the beach in time for them to all meet up and be ambushed by an enraged Jeremy. A fight ensues that leaves Trent critically injured, but not before Sam manages to stab Jeremy several times in the chest, causing him to convulse on the ground. Other corrupted people begin showing up on the beach, and thi s forces Fadi and Sam to flee. As the sun rises over the lake, Trent is dragged into the water to meet the waiting exotic woman, who corrupts Trent. Meanwhile Fadi and Sam are driving Jeremy's car away from the cabin when a local park ranger shoots Fadi through the back window of the car, causing the vehicle to crash. Fadi is knocked unconscious, and when he awakes, Sam is being beaten savagely by the Park Officer. He leaps to her rescue, and in the ensuing battle, Sam manages to grab the officer's rifle and shoot the ranger in the head. Continuing back to the city, they stop at a convenience store to call someone for help. Fadi runs to the front counter pleading to use the phone. The clerk stars at him strangely, and when his nose begins to run with blood, Fadi realizes the clerk is corrupted, and the corruption has spread far past the lake.
